Newfield Exploration Company (NYSE: NFX), an independent energy company engaged in the exploration, development and production of crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids, has presented its unaudited financial results for the third quarter of 2014. The company has reported net income of $278 million, or $2.02 per diluted share.
However, the net income from continuing operations would have been $72 million, or $0.52 per share, excluding an unrealized gain on commodity derivatives of $323 million ($207 million after-tax), or $1.50 per share.
